What is nice...to hook with your sis, on holiday.
She started this mini-granny blanket at home in Ireland, and brought a pile of (lovely Stylecraft DK) stash with her.
Vroegoggend buite op die stoep met koffie en beskuit.
We hooked on the stoep, with early morning-coffee and rusks.
'n Eenvoudige randjie om die bont te tem:
A simple edge to tame the bright colours:
Et voilĂ !
'n Tweede kombers vir Hartenbos Huisie.
A second blanket for the little beach house.
Dankie my sisi.
Love it Stel! I have just started a crochet WiP with my daughter. We are making simple grannies, 2 rows in one color and another 4 in another color. teh idea will be to join them together with grey or white or brown or something... It gives such a thrill to make something together. Nelly is 10 and yesterday we sat outside hooking away on our first squares. I told her how special this blanket is going to be. How she probably will beg to bring this blanket with her the day she leaves the house to try her own wings as a young woman. And how I probably would want to keep it for sentimental reasons, to keep a piece of her back home forever. Maybe we will have to take turn on this upcoming blanket. 6 months in her place and 6 months in mine. This is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI am sure many stories, memories, laughter and maybe a little tear at times was shared while hooking this blanket with your sister. A real gem. There is nothing like a blanket with an exceptional story behind. Nice. :D
Delightful blanket!
ReplyDeleteHow special, Annette!

ReplyDeleteYour blanket looks so beautiful!! :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Love all the pictures. So bright and happy. :-)
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me - I need to learn to crochet! But I will keep on with my knitting until I am better, before I start a new skill... So much to learn!
ReplyDeleteI awarded you on my blog today, drop on past to pick it up, if awards are your thing :)
I like your squarey blanket, it is so beautiful. Warm, bright colours. What wool did you use?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!!
Janine - its mostly Stylecraft Special DK - my sis lives in Ireland and she started the blankie with her leftover stash. If I'm correct you're in Jhb? Apparently Arthur Bales also stocks it, so I'll be crossing the Jukskei soon to have a look. It's absolutely lovely to work with, very soft. Kismet Spice feels similar, but the colours are vastly different - see my flowery scarf crocheted for Granny.
ReplyDeleteOh I love it!!! Well done you - awesome colours as well!!
